    Divine Sleep® Yoga Nidra meditation has the power to relax, heal, connect, balance, and transform us. This simple practice allows us to reach deep within, rejuvenating and relaxing deeply. It can be done lying down or in a chair. Participants merely need to be in a comfortable, relaxed position and listen to their guide. In the New Year, New You program Sandy Fowler, certified guide, will lead you through a Divine Sleep® Yoga Nidra workshop and your Divine Sleep® Yoga Nidra sessions.

This inspired mindfulness meditation practice requires only that you lie down and listen. Be supported, held, and nourished as you discover profound peace and vibrant health.

  • The workshop and classes are led by Sandy Fowler. Sandy is a stress-relief coach and a certified Divine Sleep® Yoga Nidra meditation guide.
    The program is sponsored by local businesses and health practitioners who are interested in helping our community de-stress, relax, and heal.

  • Event Dates, Location, and Details

  • The entire event takes place at The Heritage Museum and Cultural Center located at 601 Main Street, Saint Joseph, MI 49085.

    Two identical workshops will be held. Choose the one that works best for you.
    Six sessions will be held and you are welcome to attend as many as you like.

    Wednesday sessions will be held at noon on:

    • Feb 5 (workshop)
    • Feb 12
    • Feb 19
    • March 4

    Thursday sessions will be held at 3 p.m. on:

    • Jan 30 (workshop)
    • Feb 6
    • Feb 20
    • March 5

    Plan on 90 minutes for the workshop and about 45 minutes for the sessions.

  • Divine Sleep® Yoga Nidra is rooted in the ancient principles of yogic wisdom. This inspired practice taps into our body's natural healing process, promoting peace, relaxation, healing, and wholeness.

    It is generally practiced lying down but can be done seated in a chair. It's important to be comfortable so bring a mat or blanket to lie on and a blanket to cover up with. You can bring a folded towel to place under your head, a rolled towel or blanket to place under your knees, a sleep mask to block the light or any other prop that helps you be comfortable during the practice. 


    What should I wear?
    People often ask what they need to wear (they hear yoga and think they must be in yoga attire). Divine Sleep® does not involve any movement and you can practice it in any attire from pajamas to a suit and anything in between.  

    What's the best time of day to practice?
    The best time of day is the time you are able and willing to practice. People develop preferences (Sandy loves to practice in the morning. She says it helps her be kinder, more patient, and more present) but it really only matters that you do practice.

    What if I can't lie on the floor?
    You do not need to lie on the floor for this practice. It is just as effective sitting in a chair. In fact, as you learn to lead yourself through the practice you'll find you can do "mini-sessions" standing in line at the store.
